Accessibility Statement
Effective date: January 1, 2025
Last updated: 13 Feb 2026
Next review: 13 March 2026
This statement applies to https://homeprojectcalculator.com and is intended to describe our ongoing efforts to improve accessibility across our calculators and content.
1. Commitment to Accessibility
Home Project Calculator is committed to making our website accessible to everyone, including individuals with disabilities. We design and maintain our calculators and content with accessibility in mind, and we continually improve our experience to reduce barriers for all users.
2. Standards & Conformance
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. We recognize that accessibility is an ongoing effort and that some areas of the site may not yet meet every success criterion at all times.
Our website relies on standard web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Where possible, we use semantic structure, clear labeling, and accessible interaction patterns to support assistive technologies.
3. Accessibility Features
- Responsive design for different screen sizes and devices
- Text alternatives for meaningful images
- Keyboard-accessible navigation and interactive elements where supported
- Clear layout structure with readable typography
- Color contrast considerations to improve readability
- Form inputs and calculators designed to be usable with assistive technologies where supported
4. Testing & Review Process
We evaluate accessibility as part of ongoing site improvements and when releasing new calculators or major updates. Our testing approach includes:
- Keyboard-only testing (tab order, focus visibility, and interaction without a mouse)
- Screen reader spot checks to confirm headings, labels, and announcements make sense
- Contrast checks for key UI elements and content readability
We also use a combination of automated tools to identify common issues, including: Google Lighthouse, axe, and WAVE.
Review cadence: We review accessibility on every major release and perform a broader check at least quarterly.
5. Known Limitations
While we work toward WCAG 2.1 Level AA, some parts of the site may have limitations. Examples may include:
- Some older calculator pages may not yet provide optimal focus states or keyboard interaction in every scenario
- Some dynamically generated results may require improvements to ensure announcements are consistently available to screen readers
- Occasional third-party embeds or external links may not meet the same accessibility standards we aim for
If you encounter an accessibility barrier, please contact us and include the page URL and a brief description of the issue.
6. Feedback, Triage & Fix Targets
We welcome accessibility feedback and take reports seriously. When you contact us, we review and triage issues based on severity:
- Critical: blocks core usage of a calculator or key navigation (prioritized for prompt resolution)
- High: significantly impacts usability (targeted for the next maintenance cycle)
- Medium/Low: improvements and refinements (scheduled into future updates)
Where possible, we aim to provide a workaround while a fix is in progress.
7. Third-Party Content
Some calculators or links on our site may lead to third-party tools or content. We cannot control the accessibility of third-party websites, but we encourage partners to provide accessible experiences. If a third-party resource creates a barrier, let us know and we will do our best to suggest an alternative.
8. Contact Us
If you have questions or concerns about accessibility, or if you experience difficulty using any part of our site, please contact us. Including the page URL and the device/browser you’re using helps us investigate faster.
